Marquetry Links

This will never be a complete list of marquetry sites, but we are always keen to learn of new ones, so please feel free to recommend sites we should add. Please also let us know if you find one of these links doesn't work.

Private/Hobby

  • The Marquetry Society "Home base" for around 30 affiliated groups.
  • Redbridge Marquetry Group - Our friends from North-East London who have established this website fairly recently. Lots of good information ... and some fun as well.
  • The Marquetry Society Millennium Mural - Recommended - A big page (7-10 minutes to load) but worth it to see all 43 millennium hexagons at good resolution. The whole thing is 4 metres long!
  • HobbitHouse.com - Recommended - Pauls Hinds's fantastic photo reference of woods - over 450 types and over 6000 photos! Lots of information about woods and useful guidance about the accuracy (or otherwise) of photos on the web.
  • The Dan Levitt's Banjo - Recommended - A tour de force with marquetry in every conceivable place. Dan is an administrator at UCLA and this banjo has taken around 25 years to complete. Not only that - he can play it too - and a CD is due out soon!
  • Cristina Alvarez Magliano - One of our e-members exhibiting floral pictures constructed with an exciting mix of conventional marquetry and unusual media, including metals, mother-of-pearl, oil paints and more. A true artist who also holds down a demanding professional job.
  • Shropshire Cutting Edge Marquetry - A discussion group and web-site from quite near to us in Shropshire, UK. Still in its infancy, but growing!
  • Staffordshire Arts & Craft Network An organisation linking local artists, craftsmen and groups. Lots of links and details of local events where you can see members' work.
  • The Eccleshall web-site Run by our good friend Peter Jones, this has all sorts of information about our home town. Visit NOW!
  • Marquetry Mail List Kindly started up by John Wilders in Australia and now moderated by Mike and Al in USA. Follow the link, join the list and you'll be in touch with around 200 marquetarians all around the world. Ask for advice, offer your help, state your opinion (within reason please!). Don't think you will get your e-mail clogged up with rubbish from this. It can go for weeks with no messages, but help and advice is there when you need it.
  • Paul Dean's Art Marquetry site A quality site with quality marquetry - well worth a visit.
  • American Marquetry Inc. Home base for our American friends.
  • Brian Joyce's Marquetry Page Brian is a former member of the St.Albans marquetry group.
  • Jim Steichen's Marquetry and Intarsia Pages - updated link

  • Jean-Claude Deveaux's Links Page - A huge links page, particularly rich in French links. A few of the links are out of date or have only tenuous connections to marquetry, but still a valuable resource that is well worth a visit.
  • The Art Factory Dirk Boelman's scroll saw site. A neat site with some excellent designs. Dirk was complimentary about our site, so a link was the least we could do!
  • Recasval S.L. A Spanish company from near Valencia specialising in bandings - in lengths up to 100 metres !
  • F.G.Bruschweiller (Antiques) Ltd. Interesting pictures of some old (big!) marquetry furniture.
