National Exhibition 1999

	1999 saw the Marquetry Society National Exhibition come to Staffordshire for the first time. Hosted by Staffordshire Marquetry Group in the delightful setting of Spode Pottery Visitor Centre the week-long exhibition attracted many visitors from around the world. The standard of work was extremely high and included exhibits from USA, Canada, Germany and New Zealand. Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant in Staffordshire, Mr. James Hawley, opened the exhibition at a civic reception on 30 April. Also attending the reception were the Lord Mayor of the City of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Kath Banks, the Chief Executive of Stoke-on-Trent City Council Mr. Brian Smith and the Managing Director of Spode Pottery, Mr. Paul Wood. v View pictures from the exhibition v
