The 2006 National Exhibition was held in Tilbury, hosted by the Thurrock Group.
The Group achieved its highest ever points total (25) despite finishing fourth behind Thurrock (26), Harrow (33) and Chelmsford (36)
Brian Freeman's "Apple Pickers" was awarded the Ron Gibbons Trophy for the best miniature in show. Brian thus becoming the third Group member to achieve this honour in just five years and establishing the Group as a 'centre of excellence' for miniature work.
John Jeggo's "Watering Hole, after Terence James Bond" was awarded the Eddie Leader Cup for receiving the most votes from members of the public visiting the exhibition.
